Balances are the units used to store values and secure transactions with each other. Balances have currencies and contain a counter of how many times an update has been performed to your record.

Warning: the accounts module creates N balances for each account, allowing them to be multi balances, multi types and multi currencies. Balances created directly in Core cannot later be linked to an account or deleted from the system.
